The Quick Start Challenge – Update No 2

I have to say, week 2 of The Quick Start Challenge had me worried.
Setting up analytics, writing posts, commenting on blogs, etc. Not a problem!
I’ve been doing that sort of thing for ages, so a lot of it is second nature to me.

The last part of the challenge was more difficult. I had to make a video
I’ve made tons of videos, slide animations, whiteboard video, 3D intros & outros
but I’ve never been in front of the camera on any of them. I think I have a face for radio.Heck, I’ve never even stood up in a bar and done karaoke.

Well, after much thought, I decided that I would try a new type of video – green screen.
I explain what that is in the video below, so I hope you like it.
Once you’ve watched it, why not scroll down the page and leave me a comment,
let me know what you think of my video.

  1. Hi Keith, love the video! You look relaxed, completely comfortable in front of camera, love your overall personality coming out! Thank you for the information you’ve put in here, will be coming back here, have a whole lot to learn from your site. Finally I can stop browsing google looking for answers….

  2. Hi Keith,

Great video, I learned so much from it (like why the screen is green). Now I’m off to have a go at doing a “green screen” myself.

The other thing I need to find out more about is the subscribe button in your video.

    All the best for now.

  3. Hi Keith, Your site is nicely done. very appealing and easy to navigate
You are a natural in front of the camera. Easy, relaxed and come across well.
I commend you for getting this accomplished.

  4. That’s a brilliant Keith – Your first ever video and you did it with Green Screen! WOW – I love it.

Like others have said, you look totally at home in front of the camera.

I’m sure this will be the first of many.

  5. Yes I like it and I have to say I am a bit jealous of fact you have a green screen to work with!
But seriously you do look alright in front of the camera, I think you should do more of this to explain some of the tech issues that people have in the group, sometimes it makes things easier to understand when watching someone say it insead of reading it. Anyway it looks good.

  6. Thats a good start for someone who does not like standing in front of the camera.

I really like the little subscribe man. Is that a plugin?

    It is really well done.

  7. Kieth I knew from your posts in the group that you have been working online for a while and you know what you are doing. You just assured my thoughts at the beginning of this post “Setting up analytics, writing posts, commenting on blogs, etc. Not a problem!
I’ve been doing that sort of thing for ages, so a lot of it is second nature to me.”

Talking about the video you and Kevin Barham have taken this video challenge to a new level making some of us stupid but motivated with our videos.Good work there man keep it up

  8. Is it so wrong that I keep wanting to call you Simon Pegg 🙂 (which I think is a compliment)

So do you have an actual green screen or did you use a white wall? I keep meaning to try that in Camtasia.

    1. Hey Lara, I’ve been likened to Simon Pegg before, and take it as a compliment 🙂
I used a proper green screen and camtasia to achieve the effect. I’ve tried with a white wall and the contrast wasn’t right

  9. Hi Saint Keith!

I liked your video, because I learned about Green Screen. It’s apparent you know a lot about Internet Marketing, and I’m wondering what prompted you to take the Quick Start Challenge. I’ve put your blog in my favourites… as I’ll be coming back lots! All the best.

    1. Hey Lauretta, thanks for stopping by.
Yes, I know a fair bit about internet marketing, but we can always learn more!
My biggest problem is not following through on things, and I believe that QSC 3.0 will help me with that.

    1. Thanks Brian. I use Camtasia to edit my video. I’ve tried other softwares, but this one works best as far as I’m concerned.

  10. Great job Keith. I would love to learn how to do green screen myself. Maybe I will start looking at that soon. You did not appear to be nervous at all in front of the camera. Feels good to get that one out of the way doesn’t it, at least it did for me. Nice video Keith.

  11. Hi Keith. Mate your a natural. Green screens are something that interests me so I was interested in what you have to say. And I think you have a great blog. All the success to you mate.

  12. Very good Video. You don’t move so much. But doing your first video in front of a green screen is a challenge in the challenge! 😉 Well done!

  13. Hey Keith,

Excellent job! Also, the explanation of green-screen was welcome. I have heard of it, but never really understood it. This was your first time….wow….you seem so relaxed. You should definitely keep doing videos of this style.

Would definitely like to work with you in the future, too!

    Chat inside the Facebook Group.

    Cheers, Keith!

  14. Keith – Great job. I’ve got to get this green screen thing going for myself. I have a video site for God’s sake and I’ve seen you and several others whipping up on me already. 🙂 Keep up the good work and all the best. Cheers ~ Gary

  15. Hi keith,

Cool on your video, never have you ever thought that one day you will star in your own video. Anyway Keith don’t be surprise more to come and you will improve with every video shoot!

  16. Hello Keith

Great green screen video, absolutely no sign of green bleeding around your edges. I used to have a green screen setup but had to sell it when I moved for my new job.

You seemed pretty relaxed in the video and got more into it as you went along.

  17. Very good video! You’re very calm and peaceful. I know how much easier it is to be on the other side of the camera (I’ve studied photography and done some videos too, but have been a very reluctant model/actor, so I know…). Thumbs up!

  18. Hi Keith … nice website … you clearly have a lot to offer technically and your video style is nice and relaxed … you’re going to make a fortune.
